Rolando M. Guzmán holds a Ph.D. degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Master’s degree in Quantitative Economics from the Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul and Fundacao Getúlio Vargas in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
His work experience spans public and private management positions. He has been Director of Strategic Planning and Market Intelligence at Verizon Dominicana (2000-2004), where he led the restructuring of the strategic and tactical intelligence processes, and developed the systems for measuring corporate image, customer satisfaction and customer churn analysis. services, among others.
He was previously Director of the Economic Research Department of the National Planning Office (ONAPLAN, 1997-1999) and Economic Advisor to the Technical Secretariat of the Presidency (2000).
As a researcher, he has been a consultant to the World Bank, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the University of California at Santa Barbara, the Institute for Environmental Research of Illinois and the Instituto Research and Economic Planning of Brazil, among others.
His works have been published in international journals, such as the Journal of Economics Dynamics and Control, Pesquisa e Planejamento Econômica, Análise Econômica, Journal of Environmental Management, among others.
He is currently Executive Director of the Pareto Consulting Group and professor at the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo, a university of which he was Rector during the period 2011-2020.
